There are few things we recommend you to do during your first few days upon arrive.
Get familiar with your neighborhood
As a stranger, it is your priority to get familiar with the surrounding environment, which can save you lots of time from walking around and most important, this will make you feel safer ( and actually do make it safer !) Since the last thing you want to do is get lost .
Download some application make sure you can contact home
Before leaving , make sure your parents knows how to use it, try to save them some worries and trust me, they will be worried sick if you do not contact them on time.
Go to the library or go around campus
The courses in Canada might include lot of self study, it would be a good idea to check out the library first. get familiar with what is where. Also, get to know where the buildings are is also important, the courses usually hold at different buildings and you have to make sure you can find it! ( this might involve lots of walking, but this is good for you ! )
Research- what book you might need
Books ! usually they are expensive if you buy them new, so check on some website ask around , if you can find some second hand books, the benefit of it is not only because it is cheaper, there might have some notes on it, might help a lot ! first come first serve, work on it early wont hurt !
Make friends- the more the better, diversity is even better !
I understand that talk to people from your own country /city feel sweet ( and trust me : extra sweet when you are here ! ) but we are not come for the comfort, we are here to improve yourselves. Push yourself and make friends , University is a great place for your to get to know people all over the word, get to know their culture and be open minded. This is a key step for you and may lead to future success .
